Chapter 2:
Little League and Ben Affleck

When Matt was ten years old, he met a kid that lived two blocks away.  That kid was none other than writing partner, Ben Affleck.

                     

In Ben's recollection, he describes Matt's mother as an "activist lefty."  He also says, "My mom was trying to get me to work around teh house and would say, 'Well, Matt's mom makes him cook once a week.' So I first knew him as a guy who was really setting a bad precedent in the neighborhood."

Also according to Ben in a Details interview, the two "played Dungeons & Dragons, video baseball, short stop in Little League, watched Godzilla and Kung Fu double features on Saturdays, followed the adventures of The Super Friends and The X-Men." They spent so much time together that it was inevitable that they'd become the best of friends.  And inevitably, together, they'd become the best of actors, the best of writers.
